Pitt Sailing Club is a registered student organization at the University of Pittsburgh.
The Pitt Sailing Club is one of the newest Club Sports Team at the University of Pittsburgh. Founded in 2011 by a group of dedicated students, our club seeks to introduce as many students to the sport of sailing as possible. Pitt Sailing Club originally started as a social sailing club but has grown into both a competitive and social organization. Because we are a club sport, we do not receive funding from the University directly, but we were fortunate to receive funding from Student Government Board in 2013 enabling us to purchase 6 Flying Juniors. The purchase of these boats enabled the club to grow rapidly and introduce many people to the sport of sailing. In recent years, Pitt Sailing has become involved in the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA). Involvement in MAISA includes competing in various regattas throughout the year in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Pitt Sailing welcomes people of all experience levels. We offer learn to sail/learn to race classes immediately before our weekly meetings and on the water training on the weekends.
